As an educator, my overarching goal is to foster brave spaces, encourage connected learning, and expand the sociological imagination of all students. Students do not walk into classrooms as blank slates, but as individuals with unique life experiences. Understanding where students come from and working with students to expand the meanings they ascribe to the ways in which they navigate terrains of possibilities is essential for co-construction of knowledge.
I interact with students in a variety of ways inside and outside of the classroom, strive to create inclusive learning communities that encourage meaningful exchanges and the adoption of dialectical approaches to challenge students to recognize the human agency to be thought innovators, cultural brokers, and change agents.
